The series brought DC’s first African American family of super heroes to primetime garnering a loyal following.

A pilot for spinoff based on the character of Painkiller was recently ordered by the network. The pilot will be serviced within an episode of “Black Lightning’s” final season.

The CW has been successful with its slate of series based on DC comics. The network also deserves praise for ushering in diversity and inclusion in its series. Along with “Black Lightning” the network will have its second Black superhero on its slate with the newly recast “Batwoman.”

The good news for “Black Lightning” fans is that the superhero’s all play within the same universe so characters from the show can easily pop up on other series.
