There aren’t a ton of details but ABC did announce that they have a primetime reboot of the long running daytime drama “All My Children” in development.
The series is being executive produced by former “All My Children” stars Kelly Ripa and her husband Mark Consuelos.
The primetime reboot will focus on the Kane and Santos families.
No actor deals have been completed so it’s not yet clear how many performers from the original series would return to their rolls in the primetime reboot.
Since the Kane family was one of the original core families on “All My Children” when it premiered in 1970, my guess is the producers and network would want Emmy winner Susan Lucci to reprise her role as the legendary Erica Kane in some capacity.
In the “All My Children” series finale Erica was last seen trying to mend her relationship with long time beau Jack Montgomery before heading off to Hollywood to become a movie star.
There was a short-lived revival of the soap online not long after its network cancellation. It did not include Lucci and is better forgotten.
As a long time fan of the show, I’ll keep up with the progress of the reboot and keep you posted.
