CUTTING THE CORD: ROKU Sees Streaming Rise During Pandemic

As the world continues to deal with the national health crisis, people are turning to streaming services to pass the time. Roku has reported that active accounts grew by 38% to 39.8 million over the same period last year.

The set-top-box maker allows users to stream a variety of programming including news, movies and tv series. Users don’t have to purchase a set top box if they have have a smart tv with the Roku installed. It’s an easy way to access thousands of hours of programming without buying additional equipment. The boxes allow users to access streaming apps like Netflix, HBO Now, Hulu, Telemundo as well as the apps for other streaming, broadcast and cable networks.

But for those without a Roku installed smart TVs, the set-to-box is small and doesn’t take up a lot of space. The most basic box starts at $29.99 while the 4K Ultra HD boxes range from $39.99 to $99.99.
